Founder’s Message
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my life changed in ways I never expected, especially as many families, including mine, faced important global health challenges, such as Alzheimer's, alongside a global crisis. Experiencing both personal and worldwide health issues sparked my interest in public health and the science behind diseases that affect millions of people.
That curiosity led me to create Alma-Ata Remembered, named after the 1978 Alma-Ata Declaration, which recognized health as a fundamental human right and emphasized global cooperation in improving healthcare for everyone. In this challenging sociopolitical landscape for global health and rise of governmental misinformation, we must remember the Alma-Ata Declaration now and more than ever
Our Mission
Alma-Ata Remembered is a student-led nonprofit initiative dedicated to raising awareness about important global health issues affecting the world today, especially young people. Through blogs, research, and podcast interviews with doctors, scientists, and professors, we aim to make complex health topics easier for students to understand while promoting accurate, science-based information. Our goal is to educate, highlight perspectives from experts, and prevent the spread of misinformation about global health.
